Return to fixed disk HDD after a decade of removable disk packs for computers. |
Why it’s important Using fixed (non removable) disks in a sealed enclosure with otherwise Winchester technology further lowered cost and improved reliability (by eliminating complex mechanisms and controlling contamination), resulting in improved price per MB.
Virtually all HDD’s now have non-removable disks; disk packs and cartridges faded from use over the next 10 to 20 years.
